During the medieval period, people often associate mythical creatures like the Devil with beasts. Therefore, images and drawings of the Devil were seen with animalistic features like pointy horns and long tails. Interestingly, people’s perceptions changed in the 19th century, and the Devil was depicted as a smooth talker with a charming appearance and personality.

The Devil horns and tail are crochet from the same yarn we used to crochet the amigurumi cat. It is a light-worst yarn in the US, DK in the UK, and 8-Ply in Australia. The crochet hook is 2.5mm. You might have a different finished size due to yarn weight and crochet tension.

Devil Horns Headband

The circumference of the crochet Devil horns headband is 11″, with two 1.5″ pointy horns. First, you begin by creating two horn bodies in rounds and fill them with polyester fiberfill. Next, crochet the bases and connect them to the horn bodies by inserting a hook through the back loops. Finish off by crocheting the headband according to your doll’s head size and attaching the horns on the band.

Apart from stuffed animals, can we make these Devil Horns for someone else? Yes! You definitely can make it for others. Here are the ideas:

  • For adults, simply crochet the 2 devil horns and glue them to the adult size plastic headband. If you need a bigger devil horn, you may crochet it with a bulkier yarn and a bigger crochet hook.
  • For kids and toddlers, glue the horns on the hair clips will do the trick.
  • For pets, measure their head size and make a bigger or smaller headband. Or, you may sew the devil horns to their hoodie costume and turn it into a devil costume.

Devil Tail

The crochet Devil tail consists of two components; the arrow tip and the tail. Start by making the tip and leaving a long tail for sewing. Then, crochet the tail until you reach 30 rounds or 6″ long before inserting a pipe cleaner to hold it in place. Lastly, connect the two parts by sewing the tip to the round one area of the Devil tail.

Sew the tail to the amigurumi cat. We change the white tail of the amigurumi cat and replace it with a devil tail. For other animals or dolls, you may sew the devil tail to the devil dress instead of sewing it to the animal.
