What to Know

Critics Consensus

With Wall Street, Oliver Stone delivers a blunt but effective -- and thoroughly well-acted -- jeremiad against its era's veneration of greed as a means to its own end.

Jan 28, 2020 Full Review Wall Street | Rotten Tomatoes (3) David Denby New York Magazine/Vulture Oliver Stone's Wall Street is exactly what I had hoped for -- a sensationally entertaining melodrama about greed and corruption in New York, a movie that evokes the power of big money so strongly that you can savor it on your tongue like Stilton and port. Howard H Acted well and pleasure on the eyes and ears. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Michael W This crime movie was really good. Michael Douglas, Charlie Sheen, Martin Sheen, Daryl Hannah, John C. McGinley, James Spader, and the rest of the cast did a fantastic job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic, shocking, and tense. It's about what it's like to work on Wall Street and what money can do to a person. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's a definite must see. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review David W Several decades later, Wall Street has aged charmingly and is as relevant as it has ever been. Featuring great performances from a exceptionally talented cast, the film has earned its position of prominence in the zeitgeist of post-modern America. The final scenes could have been adjusted for a more elegant ending to the story, but that one critique aside, it's a truly great classic. I would definitely watch this again. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review Alec C The world of Wall Street is where the pursuit of money never rests and the lengths they go to obtain it are almost insane! Bolstered by its impeccable performances, especially Michael Douglas, this film shows us the line between lawful and unlawful is hard to determine. With some stellar dialogue and lots of intense storytelling, this is one of those films that can be applied to the financial world of corporate America! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Outer Splatter G A really enjoyable movie, even though I know nothing about the stock market I still get that, Greed, for the lack of a better word is good. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/10/23 Full Review Isaiah Y Great directing by Oliver Stone during his peak with some solid performances as well Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
