White Runtz is a unique phenotype of the original Runtz, a strain with close ties to street culture and hip hop that today shares a similar grade of fame as the Cookies lineage. Bred by a breeder only known as Nick, Runtz was the result of a unique pheno hunt that took place in 2017.
Nick eventually partnered with Yung LB, a rapper from Long Beach, and his manager Raybama. Having close ties to Berner and his famous Cookies brand, Nick, Yung LB, and Raybama used a similar type of marketing and branding to propel Runtz and their company—formerly Runtz Crew and now Jokes Up—to fame. Through their ties with Berner and Cookies, as well as unique collaborations with rappers, they were able to secure a foothold in the Californian cannabis industry.
White Runtz was created as a follow-up to the original Runtz and was allegedly created and promoted by rapper and Jokes Up member, Dolla$ Up Nero.
Genetic Lineage of White Runtz
White Runtz is a unique phenotype of the original Runtz, which was created by crossing Gelato and Zkittlez, two incredibly popular Californian hybrids. We'll look at both Runtz' parents and how they influenced the strain in more detail below.
White Runtz' first parent is Gelato, also known as Larry Bird or Gelato #42. A cross of Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Cookies, Gelato is a well-balanced hybrid that produces an uplifting, cerebral euphoria along with a deep sense of physical relaxation. Its aroma is sweet, creamy, and fruity with hints of vanilla and mint, and its buds sometimes take on beautiful purple hues—all traits that can also be observed to different degrees in Runtz and all its variations.
Meanwhile, White Runtz' second parent is Zkittlez. Also known as The Original Z, Zkittlez is an indica-dominant hybrid descending from Grape Ape and Grapefruit lines (as well as as a third undisclosed strain). Since its creation in the 2010s, Zkittlez has won over recreational and medical smokers alike with its potency, fruity candy aroma, and relaxed, sleepy stone.
